People Watching
Some days it was a community of twenty birds,
other days only two or three.
The birds gathered in their favorite spot
atop the electrical wires overlooking the busy boulevard.
They did the usual -
preened their feathers, perched, chirped, tweeted,
all the while watching people
in a hurry and asking. . .
