Words

Lover of Words

I am a logophile, a lover
of words

whether trekking through a dense forest
of words

swimming through an endless, foaming ocean
of words

or finding rest in a quiet, desert area
of
sparse words.

A Good God

A Good God
For the Lord is good and His love endures forever;
His faithfulness continues through all generations.
Psalm 100:27

Much of the Psalms were centered on praising God for His attribute of goodness that was (and is) clearly portrayed through His mighty acts.  The early Israelites used the Psalms in worship to be reminded that every circumstance –whether good or bad - could be viewed through God's goodness.

When evil rears its ugly head close to home, we as believers may silently question His goodness and be tempted in those moments  to draw back from Him. Yet God graciously extends His hand and invites us to take this struggle inside His presence where His attributes can be etched into our hearts and minds.

Despite what our feelings tell us, we can declare that in the best of times and the worst of times -- God is always good; God is always good.

Your Land

    Barren Land / Fertile Land
Barren land
land of busyness
continual activity
reactive motion
headaches
fatigue

Fertile land
land of quietness
reflection
intentional living
peace
vitality

The Wind

The Wind

Bend what is rigid in me
through the wind of Your Holy Spirit.

I recognize the force and
marvel in His capacity to purge,
to transform the landscape of my life.

I yield to the wind's strength,
without giving up or
angrily fighting against His power.

I surrender to the wind of grace.

Come, Holy Spirit,
bend what is rigid in me.

Spacious Place

Spacious Place

I leave the confining quarters
of my living room of life
and search
dark hallways,
narrow corridors,
eery spaces.

Later I ask,
“Where are you, God?”

I long for the
vast, expansive territory
owned by Him.

So I surrender rights to
my present dwelling
and move into . . .
God’s spacious place.
