Afraid of Bad News?

Are you afraid of bad news,

Refusing to trust

When the phone rings insistently

And answer you must?

Are you afraid of bad news

Refusing to trust

When the doctor speaks words

And faith is then hushed?

Are you afraid of bad news

Refusing to trust

When finances tumble

And confidence turns to disgust?

Are you afraid of bad news

Refusing to trust

When faith is the answer

And hope is a must?

Yet in good times and bad

We repeat the refrain

That “All shall be well"
Because Jesus does reign.

Foggy Place

The Place of "I Don’t Know"

Are you in transition? In the midst of loss? In the midst of change?

This foggy place named “I Don’t Know”

Is where past events fade in memory

And new trails are forged.

Small steps 

Are better than giant leaps

While the future is still unsketched

In heart and mind.

Traveling through the land of “I Don’t Know”

Is one leg of a long journey

And is not intended to be a final destination,

Only a passing through.

But it is a necessary resting place

Where things are unformed

And waiting to be.

His Story

His Story

His story becomes mine

When His Word is believed

And brought really close

To be taken, received.

It no longer is kept

At a distance in fear

That its contents may make

Upheaval appear.

Commonalities exist

Between all human beings

Bible characters present us

With real life teachings.

My story is fleshed out

And faith becomes real

As I stay home in the pages

To eat the Word as my meal.

Is it my story or His story? 

Both answers are yes

The stories weave as one

with His Truth to profess.

Curiosity

Curiosity  

Curiosity is

a strong desire,

an intensity of interest,

an inquisitiveness

that leads me on the path of adventure.

Curiosity propels me into different lands

and unfamiliar people groups,

and motivates my journey into the unknown,

the unexplored,

the uninvestigated.

Curiosity,

my fuel for lifelong learning!
