Tip Me Over

Aging Teapot
Can our later years be times of great usefulness --
when we are privileged to pour out what's been poured into us?

Here's a well-used teapot,
neither short or stout
with one broken handle
and a slightly cracked spout.

When life steeps within this old teapot
just tip . . .
it over,
let wisdom pour out.

Ducks in a Row

Are you like me --
wasting too much time and energy
getting

all your ducks in a row?

Prayer for Faith

God,
quiet me and hold me still
as you transform my
 skinny,
frail,
feeble,
weak faith
into
a faith that is
sturdy,
robust,
healthy
and
strong.

Pride and Humility

Pride and Humility

Pride enters through the front door of the place called Home,
Humility leaves via the back exit.

Pride struts haughtily, head high,
Humility walks with modest steps, close to earth.

Pride puffs up with flattery,
Humility clothes self in authenticity.

Pride strives to be a somebody,
Humility is content to be a nobody.

Pride speaks to be heard,
Humility listens.

Pride steps out alone,
Humility holds hands with community.

Then comes the day of celebration
when Pride is evicted.

Humility
is welcomed Home.

Give Way

Give Way
Give way to someone else's wishes,
Give way to someone else's dreams.
For in the yielding you will flourish
      with added benefits it seems.
