Goodbye and Hello
She lay alone in the sterile room wrapped in white sheets
while her heart dutifully beat without meaning or purpose.
Guilt held her to this life,
combined with fantasies of “what might have been.”
combined with fantasies of “what might have been.”
She had always been afraid to live,
but now she was afraid to die.
A voice arose from the recesses of her mind saying,
“Let go. Come to Me. Become all that I desire you to be.”
Her body relaxed as she turned off the timer to her heart,
saying "goodbye" to this life and hello to the next.
