Poetry

Photographic Poetry

Poetry is not content with one view of a situation
but takes a myriad of word photographs,
never tiring of another look, another angle.

She conceals meaning from some of her readers;
for others, she delights in revealing
graceful verses, illuminating phrases, penetrating truth.

Praise the Lord

It is good to praise the Lord
and make music to Your name, O Most High,
proclaiming Your love in the morning
and Your faithfulness at night
Psalm 92:1-2

Abounding

Abounding in Thanksgiving
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and
built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught,
abounding in thanksgiving.
Col. 2:6-7

Since the phrase "abounding in thanksgiving" is not in my everyday vocabulary, I decided to embark on a synonym word search and found some interesting phrases:

be alive in gratitude
be knee deep in thanksgiving
be up to one's ears in gratefulness

So here's my deduction: when I am deficient in gratitude, I probably don't even have my big toe in God's pail of goodness and grace, but when I am alive in thanksgiving I am more than knee deep in it!  You could even say I'm up to my ears in it!

So what is the measurement of my gratitude today?

And yours?

Let's choose to abound in thanksgiving!

Attitude

Grateful Loser

While waiting at a gate in the Las Vegas airport last year, my husband and I were introduced to a politician who had made three unsuccessful bids for governorship of his state.  Not one...not two...but three times he put his hat in the political ring seeking victory but experiencing defeat.

I couldn't resist the opportunity to ask him how he dealt with such disappointments.  His answer came back as a surprising question.

"Why would I dwell on the losses when I gained so much
through many people's encouragement and support?"

Now that's my idea of a grateful loser!
