Authority

Recently I heard a famous singer/songwriter state that many hopeful young artists walk on stage and rely on the authority of their instrument for success - whether that be voice, guitar, or piano.  But he added an interesting sidebar: 

it is only the person who demonstrates an authority 

within who ultimately becomes a star.

Webster's dictionary defines authority as the power to influence or command thought, opinion or behavior. The authority of many hopeful artists comes from a sense of calling, of being firm in the belief that music is what they were and are created to do.

For those of us who have responded to the call of Jesus Christ, it is His authority that makes us stand tall on the stage of life.  We may never become famous singers, songwriters, or musicians but we have the awesome privilege to bear His Name to the world.
