Commitment
Several years ago my husband and I attended a military chapel service in Heidelberg, Germany. Although I couldn’t tell you the title of the pastor’s message that Sunday morning, I do recall one brief quote: “God is committed to you.” In a split second, the Holy Spirit used those words to change my focus from self to God. I had always looked at the word “commitment” through the lens of “my” actions, but God woke me up to recognize that commitment begins with Him.
I recently read of a Miami woman who was in a diabetic coma from the age of 17 until her death at age 59; and for almost four decades, her mother was daily by her side as faithful caretaker. The daughter received the blessings of her mom’s commitment.
Whether I’m aware of it or not, I daily – even minute by minute - receive the blessings of God’s commitment to me. And this wholehearted commitment extends through all eternity.
