Psalm 91:1-2, 9-16
Psalm 91:1-2, 9-16
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. Ps. 91:1
Webster’s dictionary defines home as a dwelling place, a familiar setting, a place of origin, and Psalm 91 paints a beautiful word picture of home in and with God.
My husband’s family had a playful ritual of reciting the nursery rhyme phrase “home again, home again, jiggity jig” whenever they returned home from a journey. This has been lovingly repeated to our own children and grandchildren to express the joy and satisfaction – and sometimes sheer relief - in homecoming.
God offers us the opportunity to come home to Him – to confess and repent of those sins that may have kept us a long way from our place of origin or maybe just waiting in shame on home’s doorstep. The joy, the satisfaction, the relief of returning home is the “jiggity jig” that our Father longs and patiently waits for.
Thank You, Lord, for the blessing of home and for putting within us the desire to be home with and in You. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
